immobile
Do you ever get in a spot where you feel like your attention is needed in so many different directions, that the equal but opposing forces actually create this kind of tense equilibrium? And rather than going anywhere, you find yourself paralyzed, not moving in any direction at all?
Perhaps not. Perhaps you are all people of action, people who never find themselves mindlessly clicking on Facebook, or deciding to try and match up the mis-matched socks, or some other idiotic task, even while your mind is whirring away, chattering internally about all the things your really need to get done.
For me, I'm having a bit of a mental shut-down here this afternoon, and can't even bring myself to finish the quasi-interesting blog post I have half-written. So what you get today is this, a plea for help: how do you get yourself motivated when you have an afternoon chock-full of tasks and no desire to do any of them?

Honestly, I motivate myself by making a latte or just a coffee. Then I turn on music. The music may not help with your blog writing though! I totally understand! I feel the same way today.
I either tell myself to get it together and get it done or I take a break then try to tackle things when my mind clears.
My other favorite thing is to make a list of things that need to get done, and then check them off as I get them done. It helps to know everything I have already accomplished even when there is still a ton of things to do.
Good luck!
I make a coffee and turn on music too, then I just start. Once I begin moving around and doing something, anything, I start to get more and more motivated and my mind begins to form coherent thought about what should happen next and so on. The sunshine always seems to help me be motivated too.
I am very often in your shoes! I either have my coffee first while I make my list, or promise myself a reward (coffee or a treat) when I finish. I've also found that music helps. Sometimes I just give up and hope I'll feel more motivated tomorrow. :) (I don't recommend that one, but sometimes that's just the way it is!)
Chocolate? No, that probably does the opposite. Usually I just hope that tomorrow turns out better or I force myself to do it anyway. Depends on how urgent the need.
Must have been something in the air because we had a day somewhat like that yesterday. It seemed like nothing was getting accomplished and there was plenty to do.
It's so good to hear that I'm not the only one who gets like this! I did get some stuff done yesterday, though not a ton. And today is a new day!
